BETH MILLINGTON - CERAMICS

Beth has just graduated from the University of Brighton, having completed her fourth year of an MDes in Materials Practice (Wood, Metal, Ceramics and
Plastics). Her recent work in ceramics and metal explores the idea of family trees, genetic traits, inheritance and sentimental objects. Using the potters wheel to throw stacking pots of varying shapes and sizes, she has created two large families of vessels. Imagining glaze ingredients as genetic material, these relate to one another by the glazes used on them, like characteristics passing down human generations.
She has also experimented with the idea of 'upcycling' silver jewellery from past relationships into new wearable pieces, for which Beth has been awarded the Michael Bloomstein Silver Prize 2013.
